Exhibit shop Amaz By Lokianno has launched an exhibition to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the local manga “Young and Dangerous”.
From now until 21 August 2022, visitors will have the opportunity to glance at the original manuscripts, huge paintings and posters, and other precious exhibits at Amaz By Lokianno, an area spanning 10,000 square feet. Collaborated with PR agency Six Degrees, the campaign aims to engage with consumers and supporters of the manga by showcasing authentic figurines and original script of the iconic Hong Kong movie.
In a conversation with MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, Jackie Lok, director of Amaz said the exhibition is inspired by the fact that he is a big fan of “Young and Dangerous”, and he has longed for an interesting theme for the exhibition. He regards “Young and Dangerous” as a common memory of many HongKongers. The campaign not only targets loyal fans of the manga but also Hong Kongers who have watched the movie series. Nevertheless, those who do not know the series can also get to find out more about the story through the campaign.
“Since the news of the exhibition was out, we have received many inquiries from regions such as TaiWan, Malaysia and mainland China, inviting us to hold the “Young and Dangerous” exhibition there. We would love to introduce the series to more people around the world if there is an opportunity.” Lok added.
On 6 August 2022, there will be an autograph session hosted by the comic’s editor-in-chief Ngau Lou (Man KaiMing) and the main writer Leun Yugwok for customers who purchase the mystery box of “Young and Dangerous” on the spot.
Apart from showcasing the first edition of “Young and Dangerous” and its comic manuscript, there will be a second creation of other artists, such as inviting Alfred Cheng, a line drawing artist, to recreate the face of the main character Chan Ho Nam陳浩南; as well as inviting Chino Lam, a Hong Kong artist, to design fonts for the exhibition; Foon Wong, chief designer of Big Boy Toys, will design dolls and paintings for sale. Other related products of “Young and Dangerous” such as exclusive FlashPrint will be available within the exhibition.
Meanwhile, the campaign also involves influencer marketing such as inviting KOLs to visit the exhibition and promote on their social media.
Furthermore, there will be a lucky draw for visitors who come to the exhibition and take selfie photos in front of the feature wall”福田千人大戰”, then publish on their Facebook or Instagram and tag “Amaz By Lokianno”. They will have the chance of getting a poster which is a limited offer while stock lasts.
The original Hong Kong manga “Young and Dangerous” was launched in 1992 and a Hong Kong film depicting a group of triad young members, detailing their adventures, dangers and growth in a Hong Kong triad society. The series is based on a popular comic book series known as “Teddy Boy”.
