The village of Ballater fell silent today to mourn the death of their Balmoral neighbor Queen Elizabeth II on the day she was laid to rest.
Ballater lies eight miles from Balmoral Castle, her beloved Highland retreat where she died 11 days ago.
Journalists from around the world descended on the area when it was announced that the Queen was seriously unwell on September 8.
