Suspect sketch released

RCMP have released a sketch of the suspect in a grabbing incident at a Vernon elementary school.

Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect involved in an incident at Harwood Elementary on Oct. 11.

About 2:30 pm that day, the unknown man grabbed a 10-year-old by the arm on the school grounds and asked the child to go with him.

The child pulled away and safely made their way home.

“As part of the ongoing investigation, the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP has enlisted the services of a forensic sketch artist,” says Const. Chris Terleski.

“A forensic composite sketch of the suspect has been compiled and we are releasing it to the public, who we hope can assist us in identifying the suspect and furthering our investigation.”

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his late fifties with a tall, slender build and short, gray hair.

He was wearing jean overalls and a brown shirt.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect, or has information related to the investigation, is asked to call Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 and quote file #2022-18303.
